Foreign student Residence Permit Application

(The new residence permit already includes a re-entry permit)
New foreign students holding a Resident Visa must apply for a Residence Permit within 30 days of entry. Please apply at the Ministry of the Interior National Immigration Agency. Required documents :

  1. E-file of photo. Photo specifications: 3.5cm x 4.5cm color photo on white background. Distance between top of the head and the jaw must be 3.2cm-3.6cm.
  2. Basic passport information page
  3. VISA page 【requires entry stamp】
  4. Admission letter (includes one photocopy of official placement letter.)
  5. Certificate of enrollment.
  6. Certificate of accommodation.
  7. Application fee of NT $ 500 (for a valid residency of one year).

Residence Permit Application for Overseas Compatriot Students from Hong Kong and Macau

(New residence permit + entry and exit permit)
Within three months of entry into Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau, students holding entry permit must complete enrollment and obtain a certificate of health from the health center, and go to the Ministry of the Interior National Immigration Agency. Required documents :

  1. E-file of photo. Photo specifications: 3.5cm x 4.5cm color photo on white background. Distance between top of the head and the jaw must be 3.2cm-3.6cm.
  2. Exit & Entry Permit(Taiwan, Republic of China.
  3. Basic passport information page
  4. Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card.
  5. Admission letter (includes one photocopy of official placement letter.)
  6. Certificate of resident status from Hong Kong or Macau.
  7. Certificate of health. (valid within 3 months)
  8. Macao Police Records Certificate within the last 5 years (valid within 3 months, exempt from attaching to those under the age of 20 whose birthday is after August 31)
  9. Application Form for Residence and Settlement for Hong Kong and Macao Residents
  10. Certificate of enrollment.
  11. Proof of accommodation
  12. Application fee of NT$ 2,600.

Loss and Replacement of Resident Certificate

1. Foreign nationals：Apply through the Online application system for foreign and overseas compatriot students.
2. Hong Kong and Macau overseas compatriot students : Apply in person to the New Taipei City Service Center of the National Immigration Agency.

Required documents :

  1. Foreign students: Passport, Student ID or certificate of enrollment, declaration letter of ARC lost or police report of loss of resident certificate, and application fee of NT $ 500.
  2. Hong Kong and Macau overseas compatriot students: Application form, original copy and one photocopy of Hong Kong and Macau personal ID card, police report or declaration letter of ARC lost, application fee of NT $ 2,600.

Resident Certificate Extension Application

Within 90 days before the resident certificate expires, apply on the Student Online System of the Ministry of the Interior National Immigration Agency. (The system operation manual and application instructions are posted on the website. Please refer to the website).
Starting from March 1st, 2024, the fine for overstaying will increase to NT$10,000 to NT$50,000. Please make sure to pay attention to the extension of your ARC.
Overstay fine：
。1-10 days: NTD$10,000
。11-30 days: NTD$20,000
。31-60 days: NTD$30,000
。61-90 days: NTD$40,000
。over 91 days: NTD$50,000

Required documents :

  1. Foreign students：Passport, resident certificate, certificate of enrollment, application fee of NT $ 500.
  2. Hong Kong and Macau overseas compatriot students: Resident certificate, certificate of enrollment, application fee of NT $300.

Work Permit Application for Students

  1. Basic passport information page
  2. Front and back of Student ID
  3. Front and back of resident certificate(ARC)
  4. Go to the school post office to remit a processing fee of NTD $100 (required by the Department of Labor).
